TelecityGroup continues to develop environmentally-sustainable business by becoming the first data centre to take up EDF’s "Equilibre+” offer
TelecityGroup France chooses renewable energy source
Paris: TelecityGroup, a pan-European operator of network independent data centers and value added services, announces today that it will join EDF’s “Equilibre +” offer.
By being the first data centre operator to subscribe to this offer, TelecityGroup shows its ongoing leadership in exploring and adopting technologies which help minimise the impact of its operations on the environment and maximise energy efficiency in the data centre.
EDF’s “Equilibre+” offer certifies that the equivalent of 21 % of the electricity consumed by TelecityGroup has been generated from renewable sources of energy and guarantees a neutral impact in terms of C02 emissions. In addition, EDF reinvests part of the revenues generated from Equilibre+ into the CISEL research project, whose aim is to encourage the development of electricity production from solar energy.
Stéphane Duproz, Managing Director of TelecityGroup France, commented: “Our will to suscribe to EDF’s Equilibre+ offer demonstrates our commitment to operate a business which minimises its impact on the environment. It is important both for us and our customers.”
TelecityGroup is committed to achieving good environmental practice and strives to minimise the adverse environmental impacts of its business. In 2007 the company was the first data centre provider to test hydrogen fuel cells as an alternative power source at one of its Paris data centres.
Duproz continues: “Having been the first data centre operator to test renewable energies such as the fuel cell on site, it was only natural for TelecityGroup to be the first to subscribe to the “Equilibre+” offer. In addition to reinforcing our position as an environmentally-responsible data centre operator committed to minimising the impact of our business on the environment, it offers our customers the opportunity to share our approach.”
